It's a self-instruction tool that makes memorizing as painless as possible. It's fast, efficient, powerful, yet easy to use: everything is menu-driven. Although learning involves much more than just memorizing, it is never- theless true that for many subjects, memorizing is the first step to understanding. If you've ever had to study a foreign language or memorize a lot of words, terms, phrases, facts, acronyms, formulas, or dates you've pro- bably had to do it the hard way: First, you had to make up scores of index cards. Then you had to spend hours shuffling, sorting, grouping, and spreading them all over your desk 'till you were lost in confusion. You've probably enlisted unwilling friends to flash the cards at you or test you until you became friendless. Wouldn't it be nice if there was a better way to memorize? Well, now there is with TOTAL RECALL. TOTAL RECALL may be used to study pre-written Subject Files supplied by Zoft Systems, or it may be used to study your own subjects. Enter any subject you wish to learn or memorize into TOTAL RECALL. It then helps you LEARN, DRILL, REVIEW, and TEST on the material quickly and effortlessly. TOTAL RECALL automatically keeps track of your weak- nesses and gives you the most practice in those areas, thus saving you hours of time and work. It helps you organize and manage your studying too: you can PRINT, EDIT, ADD, COPY, MERGE, etc. Multiple users can study multiple subjects. Files can be as large as disk will hold. TOTAL RECALL is a self-instruction tool rather than a testing tool. Even though many of the activities involve questions and answers in various forms, the emphasis is on learning rather than testing. Thus, guessing is not to your advantage, you're always shown the correct answer right after you get a wrong answer, and multiple choices are selected in such a way that if you know the answer, the other answers should appear obviously wrong so as to avoid confusion. TOTAL RECALL is menu-driven and easy to use. The printed manual which comes with the Registered Version of TOTAL RECALL should cover any function or operation that you may need to know about in detail. The printed manual also describes in detail the best techniques for using TOTAL RECALL. This is the Copyrighted Shareware Version of TOTAL RECALL and is NOT public domain or free software. It is fully functional. The regis- tered Version, however, comes without "beg screens". Non-registered users of this software are granted a limited license to make an evaluation copy for trial use on a private, non-commercial basis, for the express purpose of determining whether TOTAL RECALL is suitable for their needs. At the end of this trial period (fifteen days), you should either register your copy or discontinue using TOTAL RECALL. 1.1 Meaning of Shareware =========================== What does "Shareware" really mean? It means you may try the program for free, but if you like it and continue using it, then you should pay for your copy. When you pay your registration fee you receive the following: the latest version of TOTAL RECALL, a Printed User's Manual, 30 days technical support, update notices, and access to an ever-growing library of Subject Files. Many shareware programs are as good or better than commercial versions yet are available for a fraction of the cost. The reason is simple: you're paying only for the product itself and not for any advertising. In addition, you get to try it before you buy it. However, Shareware programs do not simply appear by magic. They are copyrighted and require thousands of hours of development, programming, and support time. It is only through your continual financial support that quality Shareware programs can continue to appear and exist at such low prices. To those of you who support Shareware by registering programs that you use regularly: Thank you. An individual, single-user registration entitles you to use TOTAL RECALL on any and all computers available to you, with the following proviso: If other people have access to TOTAL RECALL or use it, then you should purchase a site license. In connection with any other product or service. 2. Only the Shareware Version can be allowed on Bulletin Boards. Under no circumstances should the Registered Version be allowed on any Bulletin Board. User's groups, Shareware houses and other Shareware distributors may charge a nominal fee (less than $10) for expenses and handling while distributing the Shareware Version of TOTAL RECALL. You become a registered user when you fill out the Registration Form found in the file ORDER.TXT and send in your registration fee. Registered users receive the following: 1) A disk with a copy of the latest Version of TOTAL RECALL. 2) A printed User's Manual which covers all the features and options and gives hints on how to better use the program and how to improve your studying and memorizing in general. 3) 30 days telephone technical support by calling (912) 929-1570. 4) Periodic notification of low-cost updates. 5) Access to the Zoft Systems library of Subject Files. 2.2 Orders Outside the US ============================ If you're ordering from outside the US, please use your Mastercard or Visa, or send a check drawn on a US bank in US dollars. We do NOT accept non-US currency. Please include an additional $3 on orders delivered outside the US (except for Canada). Print ORDER.TXT for details. 2.3 Corporate Site Licenses and Quantity Purchases ===================================================== All schools, institutions, and corporate, business, government or other commercial users of TOTAL RECALL must be registered. We offer quantity discounts as well as site licenses. Corporate or institutional site license agreements allow duplication and distribution of specific numbers of copies within the licensed institution. Duplication of multiple copies is not allowed except through execution of a site license agreement. Site license fees are based upon number of computers that will be used to run TOTAL RECALL. See file ORDER.TXT for additional information on Site Licenses. When you register you will receive Version 2.1 or later. Scheduled for release for May of 1991, Version 2.1 will have these additional features: 1) In addition to Essay, Multiple Choice, True/False, and Pair- Matching formats there will be a "Fill-in-the-Blank" format. 2) Instead of the current 60 character fixed term size, you will be able to define your terms to be any size from 1 to 78 characters wide. 3) Instead of the current 1 or 3 line definitions, you will be able to define 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 line definitions. 4) In addition to exporting to an ASCII text file you will also be able to IMPORT from any ASCII text file. This will allow you to spell- check your files easier. It will also allow you to enter math equations and scientific formulas with other editors and import them for use with TOTAL RECALL. 5) A "Remove Entries" feature will be added that will allow you to select certain entries from a Subject File for either copying or removing to another file. This will in effect be the opposite of the "Merge" feature. It will allow you to reduce the size of your files should they become too large. It will also allow you to remove and archive those entries that you feel you have learned totally. Many other improvements and enhancements are planned for later versions. Registered users will receive update notices and will be able to update for a small fee. If you would like to see additional features or improvements or if you have bugs to report please send them in or call us.
